Overview

This project focused on unifying two distinct financial experiences into a single mobile and web banking app for merchants. One was a dashboard used to manage receivables and customer transactions, while the other was a standalone banking app offering account access and loan services. The goal was to merge these two products into a seamless experience that gave users full control over their business finances—from receiving payments to managing accounts and requesting loans. The initiative demanded deep collaboration across design, product, and engineering teams.

Problems

Merging two separate products posed significant challenges: conflicting user flows, inconsistent design languages, and fragmented technical infrastructure. Each product had evolved independently, leading to different interaction patterns and visual styles. Customers were confused by the split experience and lacked a clear, unified view of their financial operations. Internally, differing team processes and design standards made collaboration difficult. Without alignment, delivering a cohesive, high-quality product experience was at risk.

Solution

Over a three-month period, the team conducted in-depth user interviews, competitive analysis, and iterative prototyping to define a shared vision. A lightweight component library was built to align design decisions across both platforms. Dozens of usability tests informed refinements to flows for managing receivables, bank accounts, and loan applications. Through collaborative sessions, the team defined a streamlined user journey and worked closely with engineering to ensure feasibility. The outcome was a unified app experience designed to support merchant needs in one cohesive ecosystem.

Results

The new banking app consolidated essential financial tools into a single, intuitive interface—making it easier for merchants to run their businesses. By merging account management, receivables, and loan access into one app, the solution improved usability and reduced friction. The project also aligned previously siloed teams around a shared design system and workflow, setting the foundation for future feature development. Most importantly, the unified app delivered on its promise of simplicity and control—empowering merchants to manage their financial operations with confidence.
