Wunder Fleet app

Overview

Wunder Mobility offers a white-label SaaS platform that supports various shared mobility services, including scooters and car-sharing. As the company expanded and new business models emerged, the original white-label app struggled to meet evolving requirements. Product designer Antonio Lapa, working within a cross-functional team, led the redesign initiative to modernize the app and make it more flexible and scalable across diverse use cases. The goal was to enhance usability, broaden configurability, and maintain a seamless experience for both users and operators.

Problems

The existing product showed significant usability and accessibility issues. Key problems included high drop-off rates during registration, accidental trip terminations, lack of feedback for user actions, and poor support for accessibility—particularly with color usage. Operators often misused features due to inflexible configurations, and the app’s rigid structure didn’t support varying business needs. Feedback from app store reviews, support interviews, and usage data further revealed issues like unclear operation areas, limited payment options, and outdated UI elements.

Solution

The team applied a user-centered design process, including extensive research, mapping current flows, and validating findings through interviews, A/B testing, and usability testing. They defined user journeys and modular flows tailored to different use cases (on-demand, pre-reserve, and pre-booking). A flexible UI was developed, supported by a scalable design system and a more inclusive color scheme, including dark mode. A new registration flow reduced friction by decoupling sign-up from payment. Enhanced customization options and feedback mechanisms helped create a coherent and intuitive user experience adaptable to various operator needs.

Results

While the redesign is still in the implementation phase, several outcomes are already evident. The introduction of a scalable, whitelabeled design system accelerated development and enabled consistent, accessible experiences. The new modular flows and customizable UI provide better alignment with diverse business models. Improved collaboration across design, engineering, and stakeholders has led to a better-validated and more competitive product. A dedicated beta program and performance tracking metrics were also established to ensure continuous improvement and long-term success.
